HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control

Sanigest InternacionalHIV/AIDS Prevention and Control

Project details

The project contained three main components: economic and financial analysis, social assessment, and institutional assessment. The purpose of the economic and financial analysis was to value in monetary terms the possible set of benefits (both direct and indirect) that can be derived from the implementation of the second HIV/AIDS project control in Barbados. The social assessment component included the identification of highly vulnerable groups, and their participation in preventing and controlling the HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted infections (STIs) epidemic; and at making recommendations concerning communication and participation activities to be carried out during project preparation and implementation to increase ownership by highly vulnerable groups of the HIV/AIDS Strategic Plan and Program. The institutional assessment component evaluated the institutional capacity of public health services and relevant NGOs to tackle the epidemic.
